Independent Contractors and Businesses Association of BC and Kwantlen Polytechnic University are hosting the next Utility Locator Specialist Course.
The first responsibility of anyone involved in ground disturbance projects is to locate and mark the location of buried pipes, cables, etc. BC’s extensive underground utility infrastructure requires accuracy and planning. A proper locate will ensure that you maintain safe working distances and will allow you to complete your project in a safe and timely manner, saving you costly downtime and project delays.
The Utility Locator Specialist Course is a technical training program for individuals wanting to obtain introductory level training in underground utility locating. The program was developed & supported by BC Construction Safety Alliance, WorkSafeBC, BC Safety Authority, BC Common Ground Alliance and BC Municipal Safety Association who saw the need to set a standard in utility locating instruction, and to provide the province with training that is tailored to BC workers.
