Excellence in Systems Safety (cross-industry)
Debbie Clyne, Clyne Consulting

Debbie Clyne has educated many on safety as part of her work on developing safety systems, including her work with the City of Burnaby’s Emergency Management Program and the BC Common Ground Alliance’s Committee. She has played an integral role promoting awareness and creating damage prevention best practices in Canada through her work on the Transmission Pipelines Committee and the very successful Dig Safe BC! contractor workshop series. The ultimate test of the reliability of these systems came through Debbie’s volunteer work with the Canadian Red Cross, where she led response and recovery teams after three major disasters in: New York at Ground Zero after September 11, 2001; New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in 2005; and High River after the massive community floods in 2013. She was made Chair of the BC Common Ground Alliance (BCCGA)’s Communication/Education Committee in 2008. Debbie co-founded and co-chaired the BCCGA Excavation Safety Committee in 2014, and established her own company, Clyne Consulting, which helps develop company management systems in risk management, including damage prevention for pipeline protection, excavation safety and public safety.
