responsible for the excavation and marking of the excavation sites. Locators
may also schedule meetings if the complexity of the markings require further
explanation.

PRACTICE STATEMENT:
A damaged facility or near miss is investigated and
reported as soon as possible after the damage has occurred.
PRACTICE DESCRIPTION:
Any time damage occurs, all parties should be
informed and a proper investigation is to be performed. This investigation is to
determine the party responsible and the root cause of the damage. The
information gathered from the investigation is essential in preventing future
occurrences of damage.

Forecasting and planning for predictable fluctuations
in the workload is an integral part of all operating practices. A responsive plan is
developed for dealing with unpredictable fluctuations.
PRACTICE DESCRIPTION:
